If you follow the relevant updates that are announced in the Microsoft 365 Message center, you may have caught the information about “SharePoint News connector retirement“. The “SharePoint News connector” is being discontinued and that entails that from 22 July 2024 it will no longer be possible to add new SharePoint News Connectors in Microsoft Teams and after 26 August 2024 existing SharePoint News connectors will stop working.

My experience is that not many people use the “SharePoint News connector” and therefore not many people are “affected” by this. But if you do what is the alternative to “SharePoint News connector” if you want to keep up to date with news from your intranet/employee portal in Microsoft Teams? If you use Viva Connections (you should) you will continue to receive notifications via Viva Connections when new news is posted on your Employee Portal/Intranet.
