Say Welcome to “Channel Notification Settings”

It is good news  to see that “Follow this channel” has now been replaced by “Channel Notification Settings”. This is considerably more pedagogical than the previous variant that many users had difficulty understanding the point with.

I am already delighted to inform my customers about this and to help them get their notifications organized so that they do not miss the information that is most relevant to them and, not least, how they can choose to silence the type of information that is of lesser value.

How it works!

When you click on the three points shown to the right of a channel’s name, “Channel Notification Settings” is now displayed instead of “Follow this Channel”.

ChannelNotifications

When you click on “Channel Notification Settings”, the following information is displayed.

CustomChannelNotifications

Notifications can be configured for

“All new posts” (Every time there is a new post in this channel). You can also choose to receive notification of all responses.

You can also configure notification for “Channel mentions” (each time someone, within a post, mentions the channel with @ChannelName).

The types of notifications you can choose are:

  • Banner and feed
  • Only show in feed
  • Off

In addition, you can select “Reset to default” which sets “All new posts” to “Off” and Channel mentions to “Banner and feed”.

DefaultChannelNotifications

It is fun to now be able to inform customers and employees about this new functionality and to help them get their notifications in order so that they do not miss the information that is most relevant to them and not least how they can choose to silence the kind of information. which is of lesser value.
