From Glühwein Guzzler to Green Tea Guru, Jolly Old Athlete and Tech Titan
On New Year’s Eve last year, Santa Claus made a promise. Through all years he had been known for his jolly demeanor and love for glühwein, but now he decided to make a change.

He realized that the glühwein, while warming and festive, was not doing him any favors in the fitness department. So, he made a resolution to quit drinking glühwein and embark on a journey of mindfulness and physical fitness.
Santa started by swapping his glühwein for green tea and began practicing mindfulness. He would sit by his fireplace, sipping his tea, and meditate. He focused on the crackling of the fire, the taste of the tea, and the feeling of the warm cup in his hands. This practice helped him stay present and resist the temptation of glühwein.
Next, he took up ultra marathon training. He started with short runs around the North Pole, gradually increasing his distance. The elves were amazed as Santa transformed from a jolly old man to an ultra-fit athlete. He ran in the snow, under the Northern Lights, building his endurance and strength.
To complement his running, he also started hitting the gym. He lifted weights, did cardio, and even took up yoga. The reindeers were in awe of his determination and strength. They had never seen Santa so energetic and fit.
By the end of the year, Santa had not only quit drinking glühwein but had also become an ultra marathon runner and a gym enthusiast. His red suit was now fitting better, and he had more energy than ever. He was still the jolly old Santa, but now he was also mindful and incredibly fit.

And so, Santa proved that it’s never too late to make a change. His story serves as an inspiration to all, showing that with determination and a positive mindset, anything is possible. Even for a glühwein-loving Santa.
Now in the digital age, Santa Claus also has had to adapt and evolve from a technical perspective. Last year, as you already know, Santa began using Microsoft Teams to plan for Christmas. This was a significant shift from his traditional methods, embracing the power of technology to streamline his operations. Microsoft Teams provided a platform for Santa and his elves to collaborate effectively. They could share information in real-time, conduct virtual meetings, and keep track of their progress in the lead-up to Christmas. This greatly improved their efficiency and ensured that no child’s wish was overlooked.

But Santa didn’t stop there. Intrigued by the potential of Artificial Intelligence (AI), in January 2024 he started exploring how it could further enhance his Christmas preparations. AI offered promising capabilities, from analyzing trends in children’s wish lists to optimizing the route for his Christmas Eve journey.
This marked the beginning of Santa’s exciting journey with AI, opening up a world of possibilities for future Christmases. Now, Santa is looking forward to the next step in his digital transformation: using Copilot for Microsoft 365. Route Planning then and now
Plotting the ultimate gift delivery route for kids worldwide is no small feat. It’s like solving a giant jigsaw puzzle with pieces that include each child’s geographical spot, the best sequence of stops, and the ever-unpredictable weather. In the old days, Santa and his elf squad would huddle over maps and weather reports, a method that was as slow as a snail race and as error-prone as a reindeer on roller skates.

Enter the era of AI, and Santa’s got a new co-pilot. High-tech algorithms now crunch the numbers, weigh the variables, and spit out the quickest, most efficient route for Santa’s big night out.
AI’s superpower lies in its ability to juggle massive data and perform mind-boggling calculations. It can pinpoint every child’s location on the globe and plot the shortest route that hits every stop. This means Santa can zip around the world in record time, saving his reindeer some serious sweat.
But wait, there’s more! AI also keeps an eye on real-time data like weather updates. It can steer Santa clear of stormy spots and suggest detours, ensuring a smooth ride and timely gift delivery, come rain or snow. And the cherry on top? AI is a quick learner. It can study past data, spot patterns, and use this wisdom to fine-tune future routes.

In a nutshell, AI is a game-changer for Santa’s route planning. It promises a seamless and speedy Christmas Eve journey, spreading cheer to children far and wide.
The future of Christmas is now looking brighter than Rudolph’s nose!

With a Little Help from My Friends
Getting initial help getting started with a text or presentation is, in my opinion, one of the biggest and most useful uses for AI. As you probably already understand, this blog post would not be what it is without the use of Copilot. It has taken a few days to write but would probably have taken another couple of days to complete if it wasn’t for Copilot (formerly known as Bing Chat Enterprise) and Image Creator from Designer.
These friends have helped me get started with inspiration and writing. They have also helped me with language in the form of translation and rewording. Writing good and clear prompts to generate images that illustrate the text, instead of searching around in various image banks, has also saved a lot of time. Now this was just a blog post, but I am already using AI today to become more efficient and I look forward to the day when I myself will be able to use Copilot for Microsoft 365 in my work and thus be able to become even more efficient and free up time to focus on innovation and deliver even more value to the organizations I work for.
